Abstract This paper describes an algorithm which can be used to detect and measure device setup errors in radiotherapy without the need of human interaction. The algorithm operates automatically with an accurance that is limited by image quality and processing speed only, because the required computation power is still quite huge for most of today's low and medium level computers.
